Player Profile - Benjamin Crowe

Benjamin Crowe or CROWEY as he is known loves playing for such a proud club as the Frankston Dolphins. According to Crowey, every young regional footballer on the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region should aspire to play at the best level they possibly can.

This is what Crowey had to say about himself.

Media:            Benjamin, what is your nickname?
Crowe:           ‘Crowey’

Media:            Where did you play your junior football?
Crowe:           I played at Somerville until U16 and then played Stingrays.

Media:            Why play for Frankston Dolphins rather than Somerville?
Crowe:           Enjoyed Somerville but competitiveness at VFL level playing
against AFL listed players is great.

Media:            Who was / is your favourite coach?
Crowe:           Simon Goosey of course!

Media:            Would you like to play AFL? Is the dream still alive?
Crowe:           Love too; it would be a great opportunity

Media:            What advice do you offer to young aspiring footballers?
Crowe:           Play the best level you can whilst you can…go up a notch and
                        better yourself personally

Media:            Which AFL team would you like to play for?
Crowe:           The KANGAS, their young brigade are ace.

Media:            What is your favourite spot on the Mornington Peninsula?
Crowe:           My place on the xbox or whilst I read a good book!

Media:            Nominate a future up and coming star for the Dolphins?
Crowe:           I’ve got an apprentice, Riley Heddles. He will go alright!

Media:            What is your favourite Mornington Peninsula restaurant?
Crowe:           Nambo’s in Frankston goes alright!

Media:            Is there pride in representing the Frankston / MP region?
Crowe:           I love it, love playing here and giving the blokes on the hill a
bit of a thrill.

Nowadays, I love playing for Frankston Dolphins. In 2006 I left and came back and got my number 26 back and I was stoked.

Bev Malloy played in my jumper and played over a hundred games so I would love to emulate the great man.

Media:            How do you think Frankston Dolphins will go this year?
Crowe:           Quietly confident, our list is solid this year.

As I was interviewing Crowey, I realised that he was a very genuine and likeable club man who wears his heart on his sleeve. Expect him to play many more games for the ‘Mighty Dolphins’!

Good Luck Crowey!
